Blunders of some Ladies, we are Ladies aren't we?
14 October 2007 @ 01:34 pm

I have found a new site that is consuming my time. Basically you can go on there and pretend to be a stylist. You get a blank canvas, then you can add whatever pieces you wish from a range of categories. I joined about 20 minutes ago, and this is what i have come up with:

Uptown Sweet
<a href="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?.mid=embed&amp;id=257143"><img width="500" src="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/BAcEMTIzNAQEBAgDAwAAAAoDanBnBAAAAC5vdXQKFm9FVXhXQUY2M0JHUlYyN25NSE1fNUECAAAAaWQKAXgEAAAAc2l6ZQ.jpg" title="uptown sweet" height="500" border="0" /></a>

Oscar and Carrie
<a href="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?.mid=embed&amp;id=257221"><img width="500" src="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/BAcEMTIzNAQEBAgDAwAAAAoDanBnBAAAAC5vdXQKFk9yYjNIUVo2M0JHTWc1VG5NSE1fNUECAAAAaWQKAXgEAAAAc2l6ZQ.jpg" title="oscar and carrie" height="500" border="0" /></a>

Do you think I should quit my day job?

PS - sorry i think the pics will come up as hyperlinks. I still need to work out how to copy/paste the picture in.

This is the Notre-Dame de Reims, a.k.a. the Really Big Cathedral in Reims (pronounced R-arse, just for you, Lauren). It was built in 1211 and replaced a previous cathedral that burnt down in 1210. The two towers are 81 metres high but were originally designed to be about 120 metres high (about the same size at the equally impressive UTS Turd Tower).

The cathedral is considered to be one of the finest examples of High Gothic architecture. It was quite badly damaged by Angry Germans during WW1, but was restored and re-opened in 1937, much to the delight of the androgenous figure in the bottom right of this photo.

Notre-Dame de Reims is built on the site where a lot (24 or 25) of French kings were coronated. Joan of Arc was present at the coronation of Charles VII in 1429. On ya, Joany.

Over the years, many French people, particularly those living in Reims, have petitioned for the local government to add to the Big Monuments in the area surrounding the cathedral. Importantly, les citoyens (the citizens) have specifically cited a desire to get in on ze Big Fruit and Animahl Consortium of ze Ostraliahns and erect monuments similar to some of the following:

The Big Banana, Coffs Harbour, NSW

The Big Pineapple, Sunshine Coast, QLD

The Big Mango, Nambour, QLD

The Big Mosquito, Hexham, NSW

The Big Ram, Wagin, WA

The Big Prawn, Ballina, NSW

The mayor of Reims is yet to issue a response to these requests.

a.

* This post marks the first in a sporadic series on interesting stuff about or in Reims. I should have started with the town itself, but who cares.

The boys won their first game today! 13-8, a convincing win I feel. Everyone was so happy. I was more relieved...26 losses in a row is pretty demoralising. Although they didn't have an amazing game, they were focused, passing well and thinking about spacing. So that was good and in the end was enough for the win. We must have got called for a least 10 travels though...something to work on. They are totally getting ice blocks at training this week haha.

I feel a Doron icon is appropriate for this event.

I am ripping this off Fashion Is Spinach, but its classic.

Thai police who are caught doing bad bad things will have to wear a delightfully girly Hello Kitty armband and wollow in shame. Who thinks of these things?

Muh.

I would like to know what people think of me starting my own blog. Sara and I were discussing this the other day, and both realised we each had thought of it. She basketball, myself fashion and generally nice things. Of course, it would not be in competition with the present blog. It would just be me posting my thoughts on things I like. It would be an Australian version of the fantastic Fashion Is Spinach.

My main concern is that I wouldn't update it enough and, thus, frustrate my endearing blog fans who would come to follow 'it' (cannot yet think of a name either). Yet, the things I could post about would be endless. One day I could even make it onto a 'top 100 blogs list'. mmm.

Anyone?

Lauren.

Hi slackers,

Loving the team effort involved in this journal! Blogging is one thing Facebook doesn't do well, so come home to Live Journal some time.

Anyway, I thought I'd put into writing my announcement that I shared with Sara/Jessi/Louise on Saturday night (sorry Lauren):

L'ANNONCEMENT:

It's not set in concrete, but I'll probably be leaving for France in the week commencing January 14, 2008. So if you're not in Vietnam or Singapore during that week, come to the airport!

That's it. A pretty me-me-me entry but it's better than nothing.

So matchbox twenty have a new single out called 'How Far We've Come'. I think the chorus sounds similar to the chorus of the song sung by France's entry into Eurovision this year ('L'amour à la française', sung by Les Fatales Picards). I have linked both videos from YouTube if you can be bothered to watch/listen to them and consider my comparison.

That's all.

At the beginning of the year an unofficial pact-type thing was made between some of the Australian singles who co-author this blog. This year would be The Year of the Boyfriend. At least one of us would take one for the team and find a fella.

While I don't think this resolution was given a look in on our journal, I thought I would provide an update on how it's going. I realise we don't actually need one because we're all more than aware of our marital status, and I don't post this with the intention of making anyone feel bad. If I do, you are welcome to take this up with me here or at another time.

The Scorecard:

AJ: 0

P1: 0

P2: 0

(P1 and P2 indicate the two others in on the joke.)

I invite P1 and P2 to reflect on their last seven months. I would like to summarise mine with a picture and a statement.

I'm still here, Dan!

As you can see, I offer little to the update (but the picture is hot). I envisage my status will probably remain much the same as France looms closer and closer.

Speaking of France, once formal preparations begin at uni, I think I will establish my own blog. Or maybe before. It is something I have been thinking about for a long time... I don't know where or when, but it's on the cards. Facebook just doesn't cut it sometimes. But Sara, you should still get it because it's great.

Everyone will wanna look just. like. me (ee-ee-ee).
